A recent report by Ericsson revealed that 5G devices and services will be on every market worldwide by 2026.
Indeed, it was stated that 5G subscriptions with capable devices are expected to grow by more than 70 million in the first quarter of 2021 and that we should reach 580 million 5G subscriptions by the end of 2021. By 2026, it was reported that North America should be leading the shares of mobile subscriptions that are 5G.
Moreover, the study estimated that the global 5G subscription base should reach 3.5 billion users by 2026. Indeed, Ericsson suggested that 2026 would be the year 5G will reach global penetration, from Sub-Saharan Africa at 7% to North America at 84%.
It was also reported that 5G services will benefit smartphone users but also fixed wireless access (FWA) and broadband Internet of Things. It is predicted that more than 20% of total mobile network data traffic around the world will be from FWA by the end of 2026. This is possible due to the demand for broadband connectivity, cost-effectiveness, and government subsidies for digital transformation and economic growth initiatives.
