Canada to use AI programme to better support innovation

The Government of Canada’s Advisory Council on Artificial Intelligence Public Awareness Working Group has recently planned a series of virtual workshops about AI in which Canadian citizens were invited to participate.

Indeed, the workshops were designed for the public to share their experience with AI and ask questions about its future. They also had the opportunity to gain a greater understanding of the benefits of AI as well as its potential risks, such as privacy and security. It ran from March 30 to April 30 all across the country and included specific sessions for youth and Indigenous communities.

These workshops are growing in importance as it is becoming more and more vital to understand baseline knowledge about AI, as well as be aware of people’s hopes and concerns for future initiatives. These will then act as a pilot program to continue sustained public awareness initiatives and help support AI innovation and economic growth.
