UK tech companies to lack diversity within their workforce

Although the technology sector is experiencing growth, UK tech companies have still a low percentage of diversity within their workforce.

Indeed, a recent study by Tech London Advocates showed that most London tech organisations have any female of BIPOC (black, indigenous, and people of colour) representation at the board level. Women in senior leadership teams are still a minority while people of colour have almost no representation at all on senior teams. Only 7% of London’s IT businesses have an all-female leadership team.

Brexit and the pandemic have slowed down the efforts to bring more diversity to the industry, however, this lack of diversity could lead the UK tech sector to lose its world-leading position.

Yet, 58% of IT leaders believe that the industry has become more inclusive in the past five years and that it will continue to improve its diversity in the coming years.
