A new Artificial Intelligence (AI) supercomputer has been recently unveiled in HPE’s Center of Excellence in Grenoble, France.
Indeed, the supercomputer will be building and training larger machine learning (ML) models in order to underpin research and get faster results. This will give scientists and engineers the opportunity to accelerate the testing of their AI models and research.
The supercomputer has been named Champollion after the French scholar who has made advances in deciphering Egyptian hieroglyphs in the 19th century. It was built in collaboration with Nvidia using AMD-bassed Apollo computer nodes fitted with Nvidia’s A100 GPUs. The supercomputer is made of 20 HPE Apollo 6500 Gen10 Plus server bides and each node has around 4TB of memory and 30TB of NVMe local storage, with HPE Parallel File System Storage optional.
Champollion is currently available to select users and should be released to the community in the near future so that users can begin developing and training their models.
