AI software to identify lung cancer earlier

A new AI software developed by Optellum that helps identify the signs of lung cancer has recently received significant government funding.

Indeed, it was announced that the lung cancer prediction software called Virtual Nodile Clinic (VNC) would be a part of a landmark research project supported by the NHS AI Lab’s £140 million AI in Health and Care Award.

The software aims to diagnose lung cancer faster and offer better and more personalized treatments to patients. This new technology should help discharge people with pulmonary nodules earlier, as well as reduce anxiety amongst patients, and use fewer radiology resources.

It was reported that if the software’s utility and safety are confirmed, it would be implemented nationally. Optellum is currently working with 10 leading NHS hospitals to deploy the technology for clinical evaluation.
