Amazon to open first data center region in New Zealand by 2024

It was recently announced that Amazon would be opening its first data centre region in New Zealand by 2024.

Indeed, Amazon Web Services (AWS) is planning to build its first data center as part of a NZ$7.5 billion investment strategy in the country over the next fifteen years. It was reported that the infrastructure hub will be owned and operated by a local AWS entity in New Zealand, and enable developers and organisations to use data centers located within the country.

This will be the most notable investment of AWS in the region and will aim to deliver 1,000 new jobs and contribute NZ$10.8bn to the country’s GDP over the next 15 years. It will hopefully generate more innovation, productivity and reinforce the skilled workforce.
