Although the tech industry is growing significantly as is the demand for DevOps experts across various roles, only 29% of women make up Australia’s technology workforce.
Indeed, a report by the Australian Computer Society showed that the country is losing female talent in STEM mainly due to a lack of visible female role models and a lack of understanding of what STEM professionals do. It is then essential to build better awareness amongst women about the career paths available in the IT industry.
Hence, many companies, including PagerDuty APJ, launched regional programs focusing on Women in Tech, as well as provide mentorship meet-ups to share knowledge and advice. These programs are working with Tech Girls Movement Foundation in order to support young girls in STEM.
